Dog Friendly B&Bs
Traveling with a beloved pet you don't want to leave in a kennel? Here are some featured inns to get you started to find the perfect pet-friendly bed and breakfast ready to welcome you and your furry friend.
Bring enough of your pet's preferred food for your entire bed and breakfast stay, as it might not be available at your destination. Pet-friendly bed and breakfast owners will feed you well, but rely on you to feed your pet.
Keep your pet on a leash in public areas, except where the pet-friendly bed and breakfast has designated a no-leash zone. It's too easy to become separated in a strange place. Pets should have collars with ID tags at a minimum, in case pet and owner are separated. ID tattoos or subdermal microchip implants are ideal, and carry a recent photo of your pet to help describe him/her if necessary.
No matter how friendly your pet may be, take care when introducing your pet to strangers, especially children, and don't allow anyone to approach your pet without your supervision.
If you'll be outdoors, prepare your pet with flea and tick repellent, and be mindful of your pet's needs and limitations - how far they can comfortably walk and how frequently they need a food or water break. Always clean up after your pet-it's your responsibility, not the responsibility of the bed and breakfast owner, even the most pet-friendly.
